Difference between water cooling & air cooling laser welder Product Knowledge
1、 Cooling methods for laser welding
Laser welding is achieved by concentrating heat onto the solder joint using a laser beam for melting. Due to the high power density of the laser and the high temperature in the welding area, it is necessary to use cooling methods to protect the equipment and avoid affecting the welding quality. At present, there are two commonly used cooling methods for laser welding: water cooling and air cooling.
2、 The difference between air-cooled laser welding and water-cooled laser welding
1. Cooling effect
Air cooled laser welding uses air cooling, but its cooling effect is poor and far inferior to water-cooled laser welding. Water cooled laser welding uses water cooling. The cooling effect of water is better than that of air, so water-cooled laser welding can better protect equipment and improve welding efficiency.
2. Energy consumption and noise
Due to the use of a fan for cooling in air-cooled laser welding, its energy consumption is lower than that of water-cooled laser welding. Meanwhile, due to the need for water pump cooling in water-cooled laser welding, its noise is relatively high.
3. Cleanliness level
Air cooled laser welding uses air cooling, which can easily introduce impurities such as dust. Water cooled laser welding, on the other hand, uses water for cooling, which has a smaller impact on equipment and the environment.
3、 Conclusion
Overall, the cooling effect, welding quality, and service life of water-cooled laser welding are better than those of air-cooled laser welding. However, due to its shortcomings in energy consumption and noise, some situations still require the use of air-cooled laser welding.
Air cooled laser welding machines are smaller in size and lighter in weight, making them suitable for outdoor work or small-scale production. However, the heat dissipation effect of air cooling is not as good as that of water cooling, making them suitable for short-term use
The advantage of water-cooled laser welding machines is their more stable heat dissipation effect, which is suitable for long-term continuous work, especially in high-temperature environments. They are usually used in large factories or situations that require high-intensity and long-term work. However, water cooling systems are relatively more complex, so maintenance is also relatively more complex.
Therefore, the choice of cooling method should be based on specific needs and occasions.
